It is definitely a good thing for people which enjoy this kind of adventure games. Even though I myself am not a big fun of similar content, I'd have to say, that this piece has a lovely feel attached to it.
However, the game doesn't feel optimized enough - I could feel my fps was way lower than it should. I'd guess that it might have something to do with the layers and, probably, alpha channels.
Also, are you sure that jumping should be faster than walking? This kind of stuff might be OK in fps games, but it feels off in adventure game with soft sounds and visuals. I think I know why you've chosen to make jumping faster (so our character can go through all these huge gaps) and that you feel that decreasing size of the gaps/increasing movement speed is not right with the game style.
Yet you could use some other effects, say, strong wing appearing in the middle of the jump which would help you to get across
